Users must qualify for membership to have access to the DCMP library. Library use must benefit K–12 students who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or deaf-blind. Teachers/interpreters (including those still in training), other professionals, and family members whose use benefits these students qualify to borrow DCMP media through the mail or online. Classroom use of DCMP curricular media must include at least one student who is deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or deaf-blind in the audience.
By federal law, the DCMP may only legally serve individuals, educational programs, and organizations in the U.S. and its territories. Services can be provided to those located at U.S. military bases in other countries if the qualifying students are American citizens. Registration is completed in two steps:
The first step involves certifying eligibility, accepting the DCMP Library Terms of Service, selecting a username/password, and proving a mailing address. Once the registration form is submitted, a confirmation email will be sent to the registration email. You must confirm your email address before proceeding with the second step.
Step two involves providing information about your use of the DCMP library. You will be asked to select the category that best defines your relationship with the qualifying students with whom the library will be used. Your application will be reviewed by DCMP staff and will be processed within two business days.
The DCMP library may be browsed by choosing “browse media” from the “media library” menu. Titles are divided into main topic areas and then more specific subject headings. Clicking on a topic will reveal the subjects under that topic. Clicking on a subject will reveal the titles assigned to that subject.
The DCMP library may also be searched by using the “Search DCMP” field on the top right. To restrict your search to media only, leave the default setting marked “Media Library” selected. Our search feature finds media when the term you have entered shows up in the title or description.
Most DCMP items are available via streaming and DVD, however some media may be available in only one format.
To view a title via streaming, click on the “stream now” button associated with the desired accessibility feature (captions or description). Streamed content is compatible with virtually all mobile platforms and will adjust quality to match the available Internet bandwidth.
To order a title on DVD to be mailed, click on the order button associated with the desired accessibility feature (captions or description). You must select from the available shipping addresses on your account before you can specify the preferred delivery date. Be aware that the first available date will be a few days from the current date because the item has to be mailed. A specific date can be entered, or a calendar of available dates can be shown by clicking on the calendar icon.
Items are mailed in a DVD mailer which may also be used to return the item. A postage-paid return label is already adhered to the mailer. Please look at the label for the “mail back date” and ensure that the item is returned to us by the date listed. (Items may be renewed for additional viewing periods via the account order history on the website.)
Adult DCMP members can now create logins for students to access DCMP library materials directly. However, only media approved by the main account holder may be viewed by the student account. The student account will not have access to ANY media until permissions are granted.
This feature is NOT intended to be used to grant access to the library for another adult. Each individual adult is required to apply for their own DCMP account
