Mabel Lara, a journalist born in the Pacific Coast of Colombia, is interested in the life of the Afro-Colombian population and takes viewers to a place in memory that lives the heritage and tradition of the black struggle for freedom. A story that began in the jungle region of Montes de Maria, where Benkos Biohó, a slave escaped from the Spanish yoke, organized the resistance against slavery, and finally settled near Cartagena, in what later became the first free territory of America, San Basilio de Palenque.
