Accessible Videos and Teacher Tools for Teachers Who Have Students With Disabilities

Families and educators who have at least one student with a disability can sign up for free membership to gain access to DCMP's accessible educational resources. DCMP has thousands of videos with captions and audio description (and many in ASL) and teacher tools for building lessons. Lessons can include clips you make from DCMP videos and materials that you create at myASLTech. Educators can use DCMP's accessible videos for all their students, online and in the classroom, ensuring an equitable learning experience. There are no charges for membership or any of DCMP's services.

Pepnet 2 (pn2) was a federally-funded project to increase the education, career, and lifetime choices available to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Funding for the project ended in 2016. However, many of the resources created by this project are still available through DCMP.

Using myASLTech with Clips and Lessons

myASLTech, a unique suite of assistive technology tools for creating educational materials, offers a membership discount through DCMP. If you're a DCMP member, you can import educational materials created with myASLTech into DCMP's Clips and Lessons.

Interactive Transcripts for Captions and Description

DCMP videos include transcripts of the caption and description files. Interactive Transcripts scroll "live" as the video plays, with words highlighted in yellow as they are captioned or spoken so that students can follow along. Interactive Transcripts are accessible by screen readers.

DCMP members often request the addition of American Sign Language interpretation as an accessibility feature. To this end, we're excited to present the ASL Pop-up! Select videos now include ASL interpretation through a pop-up window.

Clips and Lessons

Clips and Lessons allow you to select portions of DCMP videos, create clips, and then use those clips as stand-alone videos or as part of a Lesson. A Lesson can include clips, full videos, quizzes, text, and user-submitted files.

How to Share a DCMP Video in Zoom

Teachers can use video conferencing apps like Zoom to share DCMP videos with students. Sharing DCMP videos in Zoom appears to work fine on Apple computers, but some Zoom users report issues with Windows. While we recommend creating Student Accounts for reliability, we have found a solution that may work if you are using the Chrome browser in Windows.

QuickClasses

QuickClasses are facilitated, asynchronous, online classes for professionals working with students who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, low vision, or deaf-blind. They are approved for RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) CEUs, ACVREP (Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals) credit, and general professional development credit. They are free to our members.

RCAA Dr Seuss Videos With Captions, Audio Description, and ASL Translation

DCMP offers members a DVD with several captioned Dr. Seuss videos in the order form below. You can either borrow this DVD or stream them on demand through DCMP's website. The streaming videos also feature audio description and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, but the DVDs do not.

How to Embed DCMP Videos

DCMP videos can be embedded in any secure web page or learning management system (LMS) that accepts HTML embed code and has a valid TLS/SSL certificate. If you see a "padlock" symbol in the address bar while using your website/LMS, this indicates the site is secure, and should work with DCMP video embeds.
