Hey there. Mike Mulligan here. And in today's O&M Skill Refresher video, I'm gonna be talking about the different parts of a folding white cane. So folding white canes have a lot of different pieces and parts to them, and it's helpful to know what those are. So I'm gonna start at the top of the cane. So at the top of the cane-- I have a cane here in my hand-- there is an elastic cord. There's a big elastic loop and then a small elastic loop, and the small elastic loop is what holds the cane together when it's folded, which I'll talk about in another refresher video. And then if we trace that down, we come to the handle. So on this cane, it's a black handle. Three-quarters of it is rounded or curved, and then part of it is flat where our fingers will go. And then if we trace that down, we come to the shaft of the cane. So that's the long main part of the cane. This one is white for the majority of it, and then it is red-- the bottom section is red. But on the way down the shaft, there are the joints, and the joints is the part where the cane folds. So on this cane here, this folding cane, I have one, two, three joints. And then at the very end of the cane is where the cane tip goes. So right now I have a red rolling ball cane tip here on the end, but this is changeable and depends on the cane and the different cane tips that can be added to it. So that's just the basic rundown of the parts of a folding white cane.
