(Describer) Title: Health and Wellness – Gym Owner.

(Describer) At a building with the sign “Punch Fitness”, A group of people perform wall squats while moving their arms in circles as they hold weights.

(Describer) Corey Logan:

A lot of people do boxing, CrossFit, and Yoga. Those are three fields that are really exciting at the moment. But I knew that the way I did boxing would appeal to people.

(Describer) Different people punch heavy boxing bags.

Original plan, I wanted-- I had two plans. Going to college on a scholarship through football, I wanted to do NFL. Second plan was I wanted to do informational graphics, which was my major. Minored in exercise science. But what I fell into was the exercise background because it was another love of mine. So, I got started with boxing and personal training through Bally's and put the love of boxing and exercise together with the knowledge of business behind learning each facility's ways of doing business and came up with my own idea to do cardio hip-hop boxing.

(Describer) He leads a class.

Punch Fitness is cardio hip-hop boxing and personal training. I knew that boxing was a good niche. I liked cardio hip-hop music. Putting that aspect with the boxing that I understood and learned professionally, it's something I wanted to do because I love the exercise that much.

(Describer) His logo is a fist with lightning bolts coming from it.

I personal train the clients, I measure and weigh the clients. I give their body fat percentage to them and diet advice. Customer service is what we honor. I try to create that atmosphere. You know, family slash friends. I want them to feel comfortable here, if anything.

(Describer) He speaks with the class doing wall squats. A thick rope is coiled inside the gym.

I've owned the business since October 2011. And how I put the business plan together was strategically by understanding what I needed to run the business. What things was I going to offer in my business that would separate me from other businesses? I wanted to have independent contractors come in and work at my facility, bringing in their own clients so they'd could build their own business under my roof. We could keep the business running without me being here. Then you don't necessarily have to do their taxes. They get their own insurance, their own clientele. They make their own schedule. They are their own businessmen inside your business. I want to franchise one day. I want to make sure everything is solid here prior to proceeding with another location.

(Describer) The class inside punches their bags at the same time.

In order to get a personal training certification, you have to study six to ten months for a hundred multiple choice test. Some things they want you to understand on the personal training test are anatomy and nutrition prior to getting the certification to be an instructor or personal trainer. It's a national certification called National Academy of Sports Medicine, which is NASM, and the other certification I hold is ACE, which is American Council on Education.

(Describer) With a whistle in his mouth, he delivers quick punches to a bag.

If I could do college over, I would be more receptive to what the instructors had to tell me, and I'd be more connected to the people in the industry, so that later I would have first dibs on that job that someone may get because they knew the professor better. And I'd do an internship earlier. The best thing I like about this job is the freedom and reap the benefits of it and see people excited about being here, because that's the biggest payoff, seeing someone's results and someone happier.

(Describer) A woman smiles as she peeks out from behind a bag.
