On America's 100th birthday, the people of France sent one of the largest statues the world had ever seen as a gift to the American people. The statue needed a pedestal, and Joseph Pulitzer appealed to the citizens of the U.S. to help raise the needed money to build the pedestal. Soon, Pulitzer's campaign raised enough money thanks to the help of thousands of schoolchildren donating pennies, dimes, and quarters. Based on the children's book by Chana Stieferl.
