How To: Interactive Transcripts
Now Playing As: Captioned (English)
Educational videos often contain multiple concepts under the umbrella of a broader topic. Due to time constraints, teachers often show segments of our media in the classroom to reinforce specific concepts. We built our interactive transcript feature with this in mind. Described and Captioned Media Program (DCMP) clients can identify media covering a broad subject, then search the captioning transcript to focus-in on a specific concept. A great example might be a video on insects, but you want to find a specific segment on honeybees. Simply search for “honeybees” in the interactive transcript, and you’re given a list of every instance where “honeybees” are mentioned in the video. Each caption block is interactive, meaning that you can click any segment and jump to that portion of the video. This how-to video demonstrates the technology and how you might use it in the course of educating your students.
