Part of the "Little Fables" series. Tells a story of a hare who ridicules a slow-moving tortoise and is challenged to a race. The hare soon leaves the tortoise behind and, confident of winning, decides to take a nap midway through the course. When the hare wakes up, he finds that the tortoise, crawling slowly but steadily, has arrived before him. The moral of the story is that sometimes talent and ability come second to hard work and persistence. One of Aesop's fables.
