Nine Hmong women living in the United States tell their stories beginning when they were young girls in Laos. Their families had been forced to flee after the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, and they eventually settled in the United States. The stories of these women provide insight into the Southeast Asian refugee experience and the changes challenging them as they break from a traditional patriarchal family structure and assimilate into American society.
