Melodrama of conflict among the rural ruling class. Two hacienda owners, Pedro (Soler) and Miguel (Villareal), have a long-running dispute over the possession of the Monte de los Pericos. Pedro's son, Román (Negrete), breaks up with his lover, Lupe (Martino), because he's in love with the blonde Rosaura (Miroslava), Miguel's daughter. Miguel opposes this match and devises obstacles to interfere with it. Garcia Riera called this a "shadowy" tragedy which cost the lives of the feudal lords who were determined to possess the Monte de los Pericos and the honor of the women who crossed the path of the very macho Jorge Negrete. Filmed twice before as La parcela directed by Juan Manuel Ramos in 1921 and in 1938 as Nobleza ranchera by Alfredo del Diestro.
