"A Long March" is a historical documentary about Filipino veterans who served under U.S. command during World War II and the long fight for recognition after the war. Through the testimony of Feliciana Reyes and others, it examines the Bataan Death March, the U.S. colonization of the Philippines, guerrilla resistance, and the 1946 Rescission Act that denied many veterans benefits and legal recognition. The film highlights key themes in U.S. history, World War II, civil rights, citizenship, military service, and gender discrimination, especially the exclusion of women guerrillas from official records. Useful for school curricula in history, civics, and social studies, the documentary supports study of primary-source testimony, government policy, historical memory, and the relationship between the United States and the Philippines.
