Welcome back to "Gigi's Magic Mailbox." You know who I am. I'm Gigi. Thanks for coming by.
[dreamy music]
Did you hear that? You know what that means! Something's in the magic mailbox. -Let's see what it is. -[dreamy music]
(Describer) Gigi opens the mailbox and takes out a book.
"Come Rhyme With Me." I have read this story so many times to so many of the grandkids. It's so fun and as we read it today, you can help me guess what the last word is. This is a rhyming book and so it's lots of fun to read together and try to figure out what's the next word. Well, if you have your own copy, go grab it and we'll read it together. Alright, let's get started.
(Describer) A woman wears sparkly glasses and smiles.
[playful music]
(Children) "Gigi's Magic Mailbox."
(Gigi) "Come Rhyme With Me," by Hans Wilhelm. A is for alligator snoozing in the sun. If you dare to tickle him, you'd better start to run. R-U-N, run.
[playful music]
B is for bear, sitting on a rug, eating all your chocolates
[bear munching]
and waiting for a hug. H-U-G, hug. C is for caterpillar falling from a tree. If you do not catch her, she will drop into your tea. T-E-A, tea. D is for dragon, who is a skillful flyer. If you come too close, he'll toast you with his fire. F-I-R-E, fire. E is for elephant with a touch of the flu, waking up the monkeys with the loud achoo. C-H-O-O, choo.
[person sneezes]
F is for fox who raids the chicken coop and frowns as he steps in lots of chicken poop. P-O-O-P, poop.
[chickens clucking]
G is for gorilla who's got 10 useful toes, nine of them for walking and one to pick his nose. N-O-S-E, nose H is for hippo who is very large and fat. If one should ever sit on you, he would squash you flat. F-L-A-T, flat I is for iguana, a scary little creature, frightening your classmates and most of all your teacher. T-E-A-C-H-E-R, teacher. J is for jaguar who has a lot of spots. Get out your pencil and connect the dots. D-O-T-S, dots.
[jaguar growling]
K is for kangaroo with a baby in her pouch, jumping up and down on grandma's leather couch. C-O-U-C-H, couch.
[kangaroo boinging]
L is for llama who you shouldn't poke or hit because when they get angry, those llamas sure can spit. S-P-I-T, spit. M is for moose with huge antlers on his head. They must be such a nuisance when he's sleeping in his bed. B-E-D, bed. N is for newt who left her waterhole to live happily ever after in our toilet bowl. B-O-W-L, bowl. O is for owl who sees with large round eyes. He catches anything that runs or hops or flies. F-L-I-E-S, flies. P is for platypus swimming in the muck. Her body is all furry and the rest is like a duck. D-U-C-K, duck. Q is for quail who got nipped on her legs when she sat by mistake on the wrong nest of eggs. E-G-G-S, eggs. R is for raccoon who raps all day and night. He snaps his fingers to the beat until he gets it right. R-I-G-H-T, right. S is for skunk who squirts his smelly spray on unsuspecting Rufus, who just came out to play. P-L-A-Y, play.
[Rufus barks]
T is for toucan, who lets out an awful shriek
[toucan shrieks]
to show off all her feathers and her yellow beak. B-E-A-K, beak. U is for unicorn whose coat is soft and white, but if you ever catch one, you'd better hold on tight. T-I-G-H-T, tight V is for vultures who are a hungry bunch. They circle in the sky until they find their lunch. L-U-N-C-H, lunch W is for whale who squirts his water jet high into the sky and leaves you soaking wet. W-E-T, wet. X is for x-ray fish who's got nothing to hide. She swims around while showing all the bone she has inside. I-N-S-I-D-E, inside. Y is for yak who woke up with a scare to find he was grazing in his underwear. W-E-A-R, wear. Z is for zebra who loves her stripes, of course. Without them a zebra would look just like a horse. H-O-R-S-E, horse. Can you hear their loud applause, clapping hands and hooves and paws?
[animals applauding]
Now that you know every rhyme, they want to hear you one more time. T-I-M-E, time. The end.
