Brooke: I think part of my problem in high school was that I had a huge list of long-term goals and not many short-term goals. I didn't realize how important short-term goals were to accomplishing my long-term goals. Sam: A friend of mine was really good at planning out his goals. He had a chart on his closet door with a list of his goals on one side and the dates when he wanted to achieve them on the other side. He would use it to remind him of what he needed to do. Brooke: I can see how using short-term goals to reach a long-term goal makes a lot of sense. When I wanted to get a driver's license, I never really thought about the smaller steps I needed to take to get my license. First, you have to take the driver's education class, then you have to get your driver's permit, then you have to practice driving, then you have to get driving insurance, and then you have to pass your driver's license test. When you break it down like that and focus on each small step rather than just the final goal, it doesn't seem so overwhelming.
