From boyhood throughout his adult life, Roosevelt's enthusiasm for conservation was encouraged and shaped by several influential figures. Early on, Roosevelt's uncle, Robert Barnwell Roosevelt, inspired his nephew with his tireless struggles on behalf of conservation policy.
