Elisa meets a traveling handy man as she tends to her chrysanthemums. The man and Elisa discuss her love for gardening, and he promises to bring her some seeds from another of his customers. As he prepares to leave, Elisa gives him two cuttings from her flowers. But she becomes filled with sorrow as she travels into town with her husband and sees the man has thrown her flowers out of the wagon onto the side of the road. Based on the short story by John Steinbeck.
