For the Gideon case, the Warren Court handed down the basics of what it called the "fundamentals of fairness" standard. Convictions not made in conformity with the "fairness" standard would likely be overturned. For the Miranda case, Constitutional guarantees of due process were mandated. From this ruling, the Miranda warning (also known as the Miranda rights) emerged.
