An estimated six million women in the U.S. are alcoholics. Social stigma and intense shame inhibit many of these women and their families from admitting that they have a problem and that they need help. Ten women share their personal stories of addiction and recovery. Their honest accounts, along with commentary by experts on alcoholism and treatment, provide a disturbing but very effective introduction to the disease and how it affects women in particular. It is also aimed at the families, neighbors, and employers whose help may be vital in encouraging women to seek help. Accessibility options on the DVD are: (1) expanded description, (2) English subtitles in a black box.
