Provides two classroom activities for middle school math teachers to help students learn the skills needed to factor trinomials, a skill necessary for understanding algebra. The first activity, "X" Marks the Spot (or Diamond Problems), helps students practice addition and multiplication of integers and fractions. The second activity uses an area model for multiplication which provides students with a visual of the problem.
