Uses practical applications of money and time to show how math is part of everyday life. Segment 1, Money: Looks at how money systems have changed over the centuries. Explains how to count change, open savings and checking accounts at a bank, balance a checkbook, and convert fractions into decimals. Segment 2, Time: Looks at the history of timekeeping, and tells how our calendar system came into being. Explains why knowing fractions makes it easy to tell time. Suggested classroom activities follow each segment.
