(Describer) Words appear: Strong 4 Life. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

      [upbeat music]

Well, hey everybody. My name is Emcee Ronnie, and I have with me DJ 412, and we are a part of the Strong4Life Challenge Team. Now Strong4Life is here to help build strong bodies and minds by encouraging you to practice our four healthy habits. Number one: eat smarter, drink water! Number two: screens away, go play! Number three: get rest to be your best. And number four: emotions are real, express how you feel. Today's healthy habit is get rest to be your best.

      (Describer) DJ 412 falls asleep.

Getting enough sleep each night is important for our bodies and minds to recharge, so we have enough energy to be able to take on the day. DJ 412, how, whoa, whoa, buddy? Hey! Hey! Wake up! Wake up! Hey. Hey. You all right, man? You good? You good? Yeah, I'm just, I'm a little exhausted. I didn't really get that much sleep last night. Do you have any tips or tricks to make sure you get a good night's rest? I certainly do. I certainly do. Whether it's reading or journaling, I try to do something every night that helps me wind down before I go to bed. Okay, cool. I'll give that a try. Did you know there are other ways we can get rest during the day? How do you do that? Sometimes, it's as simple as closing your eyes or focusing on your breathing, which helps your body and mind to relax. Let's do this altogether.

      [gentle music]

Now if you're comfortable, close your eyes, or you can just focus on something in front of you. Now, let your imagination go. Think about lying down in the grass, looking up at the blue sky. Do you see birds or treetops? Do you see clouds in the sky? What shape are they forming? What do you hear? Is the wind blowing the leaves? Do you hear the birds chirping?

      [birds chirping]

Now, go ahead and slowly open your eyes. Remember, you can always use your imagination to relax. Can we get rest with our eyes open too? Of course, we can. Get in a comfortable position and be really still, not moving or looking around. Sometimes, when we need rest, we just have to stop for a second to be quiet and calm. Remember, while we're resting, we're gonna take some deep breaths in. Take a deep breath in through your nose. And then slowly exhale through your mouth. We're gonna do that a few more times. Keep going. Inhale. And exhale. Remember to just focus on your breath as it slowly comes in and out of your body to help you relax and stay calm. One more time. Inhale. And exhale. Great job. Remember, it's important for our bodies and minds to get rest in order to be our best. See you next time.

It is important for individuals to give their body and brain a chance to rest and recharge. This helps boost energy, mood, and memory. Some helpful tips for resting and recharging include going to bed and waking up at the same time, powering down all screens an hour before bed, and keeping electronic devices out of the bedroom.
