Aging Out profiles teenagers who "age out" of the foster care system and suddenly discover they're on their own. Although they become parents, battle drug addiction, experience homelessness, and land in jail, they also use the resiliency they developed from years of abuse to take control of their lives. Ultimately, this emotionally complex documentary becomes a deeply affecting portrait of the struggles of young people to overcome the scars of their troubled childhoods in order to realize their dreams of independence and fulfillment.
