In the village Fengxing, north of Shanghai, a former communist factory is in the process of being privatized. Not only does the factory transform from making bicycles to a shoe factory, but it also transforms the community. Local residents live at home and work in the factory, while migrant workers must live in factory owned dormitories. Such factories are called Town and Village Enterprises, and it’s one of many.
