A 1920's atmosphere sets off this zany story of two inept kidnappers who think that snatching the son of a banker in a sleepy Alabama town will make them some fast and easy money. Sam and Bill soon find out that young Johnny ("Red Chief, terror of the plains") is a handful. They cut the kidnapping short and rush to pick up the money, but find the tables again had turned. Based on the short story by O. Henry.

    Although this is a black and white movie, it is very close in content to the original story. I use this video whenever I teach this short story.
