Set in the sleepy hollows of New York's Hudson River Valley at the turn of the century, this is a classic horror tale. A grizzly old sailor visits an ex-shipmate, Samuel White, and his family. He leaves behind a mystical monkey's paw said to grant the bearer three wishes, but he warns strongly against its use: "Fate rules people's lives, and those who defy it do so to their woe!" However, the Whites can't resist making one humble wish. Indeed, it comes true, but in a fatal way.
