Low-angle closeup of a Native American woman appearing to portray Sacagawea. Her black hair is in low, braided pigtails wrapped with tan leather and wears an off-white shirt against a blue sky background. Caption. It is here that I see them for the first time.

Sacagawea, taken from her Shoshoni tribe by the Mandans, tells how she met the Lewis and Clark expedition in the fall of 1804. Paralleling her account is the Corps of Discovery's journey from St. Louis to Ft. Mandan and their charge to find a water route to the Pacific. The expedition needs an interpreter in order to continue their trek and agrees to take Sacagawea with them. This dramatization is Part 1 of 3.

I'd love to see a more up-to-date version; like something from PBS or National Geographic. Just a thought.
