When we make the "iih" sound, your mouth is open a little bit and the front part of your tongue pushes up, but the tip of your tongue stays down. Your voice box is on. Repeat after me. "Iih, iih, iih."

(Describer) Alphabott shows the word: 'sit,' spelled s-i-t.
[dinging]
"Sit." This word is a closed syllable-- there is just one vowel, and that vowel is closed in by a consonant. The vowel sound will be short, kind of like it's anxious that the consonant is closing it in. So "i" represents "iih." Let's read it together. Ss, iih, tt. Sit.
