All About the Holidays: The 100th Day of School

2 minutes

(male narrator) The 100th Day of School is honored in elementary schools across America. Depending on when school starts, it falls in January or February. It's an important event in a school year that teachers and students celebrate by having fun with the number 100. Kids run the hundred-yard dash or collect 100 unusual items. Classes design jewelry using 100 beads, answer 100 questions, or write poems using 100 letters. Younger kids practice counting and dividing objects into groups, like ten groups of ten--100. The 100th day is also for thinking about time. Students research what the world was like 100 years ago and imagine the world 100 years from now. Classes discuss the next 100 days, and new goals are set for the rest of the year. Students read 100 books or collect 100 donations for charity. It doesn't matter how you honor 100 days of school. Just remember to congratulate yourself, your teachers, and other students for a job well done. How would you like to celebrate the 100th day of school?
