Gerda Weissmann Klein was a young Jewish girl when Germany invaded Poland in 1939. Her family was forced to live in the basement of her home before they were separated from one another. She was the only survivor from her family of four. She retells her account of surviving the Holocaust. The Oscar-winning film was produced in cooperation with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and HBO. In 2012, the film was selected for inclusion in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress, a registry reserved for films that are “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.” Preview is highly encouraged due to wartime images and footage from concentration camps.

This film is wonderful! It provides a perspective that students don't get to see very often. As the years go by we believe it is important to never forget and this film allows us to be emotionally and educationally challenged.
