Introductory course designed to broaden educational interpreters' understanding and knowledge of deaf cultural perspectives related to K-12 educational interpreting. Will strengthen interpreters' ability to serve a broad range of deaf and hard-of-hearing students with varied communication needs. Selected topics include: communication modalities, interpreter demeanor, and interpreter/student dynamics, such as helping vs. advocating and the interpreters' positioning in the classroom.
