Countdown to Deaf History Month: 3 Weeks to Go!

Deaf History Month begins on March 13! Start your celebration now! Curious as to what the first captioned educational film looked like way back in 1962? Has captioning changed since then? To find out, watch Rockets: How They Work on the DCMP YouTube channel or become a DCMP member and watch it instantly on our site or borrow a DVD copy. We’ve provided a resource containing both the original script and caption script for Rockets [PDF] for those interested in examining the information that was included in early captioned films, when comprehensive guidelines such as the Captioning Key were not yet available.

If you haven’t done so already, sign up for the DCMP newsletter and watch for our Deaf History Month feature in the upcoming March edition.
